Do Your Clubs Need A Checkup?
There are a couple of simple things you can have done to your golf clubs to make sure they are playing as intended. One of them is to have the lofts checked.
Boulder City, Nevada - 9/15/06 - Get Your Clubs In For A Checkup.
We are well into the golfing season. For some of you, the end of the season is rapidly approaching. For those few who are lucky, the season never ends!
Regular golf club maintenance is often overlooked and neglected. However, just because your clubs are made out of metal doesn\'t mean they don\'t get bent up enough to effect your yardages and accuracy.
I tell all my customers to bring their clubs in once every 6 months to have the lofts and lies checked. Some are very suprised when I show them how much adjustment their clubs need to \'get back to specs\'!
If you play forged clubs, the metal is a soft carbon steel of some sort. This metal bends very easily. You will bend these clubs through normal play over time. It is essential that you get them in and have them looked at by your local custom clubmaker!
Even if you play with a stainless steel clubhead, it will bend if you hit them off the range mats found at most driving range facilities. It only takes a few visits to knock your lofts off by a significant amount to see your yardages effected.
A custom clubmaker will ensure that you have consistent loft increments from club to club when they check them. They will put them into a special bending machine if they need to be adjusted for you. The process doesn\'t take much time and is very affordable.
The same applies to the lie angles of your clubs. Your lie angles will effect your accuracy if they are not set correctly for each club in your bag. A custom clubmaker can easily adjust the lie angles as well.
